Last week, I popped into my local LOFT store to try on some of their new arrivals. There were lots of cute options for casual spring and summer outfits! This week, LOFT is having a huge sale so if you’re looking for a wardrobe refresh, now’s a good time to shop. Don’t know where to start? These are a few of my favorite spring 2022 styles at LOFT…
Floral Dresses
It used to be really easy for me to buy dresses online. But since I’ve gained that midlife weight, I’ve found it harder to find dresses that are flattering. Those pretty Bridgerton inspired cap sleeves hit right where my arms have gotten heavy. Tiered maxis seem to add 10lbs to my hips. And cutouts? Oy, no one needs to see my squishy belly! Please tell me you can relate!
I was thrilled to see some midlife-friendly dresses at LOFT. I bought this Floral Flutter Sleeve V-Neck Midi dress:
What I love about this dress:
- The V-neck is very flattering. It’s low enough to be stylish but not so low that you would worry about revealing too much.
- It’s somewhere between fitted and loose so it’s comfortable but not frumpy.
- The midi-length makes it modest and works for various heights. (For reference I’m just under 5’4″ with longer legs and a shorter torso).
- The ruffles are subtle – I’ve tried plenty of ruffled sleeves that felt like wings! You can wear a jacket over this dress without feeling like you have shoulder pads on.
- The print is so sweet. It’s red, white, and blue which makes it perfect for now, Memorial Day and July 4th.
Other Spring 2022 Dress Styles At LOFT
I didn’t try on this Floral Midi Pocket Shirtdress but I think it’s also very pretty! I love this Floral Smocked Puff Sleeve Midi Pocket Dress (okay, so maybe this one is Bridgerton-inspired but it’s much more wearable).
Casual Pants And Shorts
If you’ve been wearing tummy-tucking, butt-lifting skinny jeans and leggings, it can be a bit of a shock to see yourself in looser pant styles. I found the Lou and Grey Poplin Pants to be very flattering though. They’re made in a soft but structured cotton, so you can roll up the hem or leave it full-length. I also tried the Monroe Chino Shorts in my usual size 2 but they were a little snug in the hips for me. I may order the curvy version online as they are really cute versatile shorts and come in several pretty spring colors.

T-Shirts, Tanks, And Tops
I’m wearing the Striped Essential V-Neck tank which was super soft and stretchy, and even on my petite frame the v-neck wasn’t low.
I also tried the Smocked V-Neck Muscle Tee. I didn’t love the rounded v-neck but otherwise, it’s a very soft, flattering t-shirt and the muscle style sleeve is very on-trend.
If you need a basic ribbed tank, the Perfect Tank comes in 10 colors and has a modest high neckline. Hint: you may want to size up if you don’t like your tanks to be clingy. I’m usually an XS but the S was snug enough for me.
Looking for a graphic t-shirt? I love this New York Everyday Crew Tee. You’ll also find graphic t-shirts featuring Chicago, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia.
If you’re looking for a long sleeved blouse, the cotton-modal Floral Shirred Tie-Neck Blouse is gorgeous. The Dobby Lace trim blouse that I wore in this post, is also still available but there are only a few sizes left.
Skirts
One of the things I love about LOFT skirts is that their mini skirts are a respectable length. I tried on this Spring Bloom Flounce Skirt. It’s 19″ long which is an inch or two longer than most mini skirts this season. I’m wearing a small (my usual size is xs).
If you’re looking for a longer length (and didn’t already buy the dress) the Spring Blooms Tiered Midi Skirt is very pretty.
Let me know if you check out the LOFT sale, and what you end up buying!
