Winter white, with its warm undertones, (think ivory, antique white, or cream) is a gorgeous option for the colder months. It pairs well with all colors, has an air of luxury, and is often more flattering than stark summer white. Afraid that white is too high maintenance in the winter? Here are some practical, on-trend ways to wear winter white…
Textured Sweaters
A textured sweater (like a cable knit) looks beautiful in winter white as you can really see the details. If you’re buying something new, make sure you read the care instructions first. Look for textured sweaters that are easy for you to wash i.e. if dry cleaning is not a part of your regular routine, then don’t buy items that can’t be washed at home. I also save my white sweaters for occasions when I’m unlikely to end up with a stain or spill.
I’m wearing the Calda Sweater Tunic from Banana Republic with velvet leggings and these Chelsea boots. Combine heavy textures with smooth ones like velvet, silk, or leather. Faux leather pants would look gorgeous with a textured sweater.
This Merino Blend Cropped Textured Sweater has a shorter length, perfect for high-waisted pants. (If I didn’t already have this in pink I’d be tempted to buy the ivory which is currently marked down).
If you’re looking for something machine washable and casual, then take a look at this Sweater Bomber in Transition Cream. The zippered pocket on the sleeve is a cute detail.
Everlane’s Texture Cotton Cardigan is another cute option (this one is hand wash only).
Live somewhere warm? Take a look at his affordable Crochet Cropped Cardigan in 100% cotton. This is also a cute one for spring.
Wear these winter white textured sweaters with your favorite jeans, pants in any color, or leggings. For cropped styles, you can also try a skirt and tights.
Sweater Vests And Puffer Vests
If you’re worried about getting your sleeves dirty, then try a winter white sweater vest. This Cotton Sweater Vest is simple and clean. Wear it over your favorite button-down shirt and wide leg pants.
Prefer a texture? Then, take a look at this Patchwork Sweater Vest.
For a more casual look, wear a winter white puffer vest with jeans or leggings.
This Hybrid Puffer Vest in Gardenia White is a classic style with a flattering curved hem.
Anorak’s Packable Down Puffer Vest has a detachable hood.
I have a Bernardo puffer jacket that I love, so I’m looking at the Quilted Puffer Vest from this sustainable brand.
Shirts And Shackets
Winter white flannel shirts and shackets are a fresh change from the plaid flannels that we see in the last quarter of the year. Mine is actually a heavier wool-blend shacket (from a few years ago) but a cotton flannel shacket would create a similar look.
Options that are available now: this Waffle Knit Shirt Jacket, this Corduroy Oversized Shirt Jacket and this Knit Button-Up Shirt.
Wear your flannel shirts and shackets with straight leg or flared jeans/leggings.
Winter Accessories
If you’re still thinking that winter white is too high-maintenance, start with some winter accessories.
I bought this Oversized Cashmere Wrap to wear with cocktail dresses in the fall, but I’m now wearing it as a winter scarf.
GAP’s Organic Cotton Beanie in Birch is heavily discounted right now (and selling quickly).
If you prefer something synthetic, then take a look at this Barbour Beanie And Scarf Gift Set
Looking for something fun and practical? How about this Crossbody Fleece Bucket Bag in White Opal from Lululemon?
Leather Accessories
There’s something about leather accessories in winter white that just look luxe!
I love this Tory Burch Miller Mini Bag in New Ivory. Take a look at the beautiful strap!
For something more casual, try this Snapshot Bag in New Cloud Multi. It’s a classic handbag that you can use now and later.
White leather needs a little extra care so you may want to use a protective spray and have a leather cleaner on hand.
If you want a low maintenance winter white collection, avoid coats, shoes, dresses and full length pants. Sweaters, vests, shackets, winter accessiores and smooth leather are a little easier to keep clean. Let me know which one of these you’d buy in winter white…
