After finding so many beautiful dresses this year, I started looking for the perfect wedge sandals to wear with them. I wanted beautiful, comfortable, and versatile shoes that I could wear to outdoor graduations as well as indoor weddings. Along came the Sarah Flint Mirjana Wedge sandals. It was love at first sight!
The Perfect Summer Wedge Sandals
I chose the Mirjana Wedge 50 as I wanted heels that wouldn’t sink into the ground at an outdoor event. I also wanted height without discomfort, so that I could walk or dance in them. Why do I consider these the perfect wedge sandals? The design is a simple but unique wrap-around bow – it’s a classic look that you can wear for years to come. The heels have an intricate basketweave design that makes them perfect for dressing up or down. (I can wear them with almost every dress in my closet.) All Sarah Flint shoes have extra padding in the footbed and arch support so your feet can relax into them! And if you choose white like I did, you can show off your summer tan.
I chose the 50mm (2″) heels, but if you prefer higher heels, try the Mirjana Wedge 80 which has 80mm (3″) heels.
The Fit
I’m wearing a size 7 which is my usual size. The leather is snug around my toes but since leather stretches, Sarah Flint recommends a snug start. If you’re looking at one of the other Sarah Flint styles, the description will guide you on sizing. You can also contact their customer service team for advice.
The Workmanship
Sarah Flint shoes are handmade in Italy at the same family-owned factories as other luxury brands (like Manolo Blahnik and Oscar de la Renta). They’re more affordable because they are mostly a direct-to-customer brand without the high markups of upscale department stores. Take a close look at these shoes, you’ll see that every stitch is perfectly placed. You’ll also receive a card signed by one of the artisans who helped to create your shoes.
Sustainability
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I try to support brands that are conscious of their impact on the environment. The Mirjana Wedge sandals are a part of Sarah Flint’s Sustainable Steps Collection which means that they are made with recycled and eco-friendly materials. The leather comes from “manufacturing waste” i.e. what’s left over after other leather goods are made. They also include an Eco Insole (made with zero waste) and biodegradable foam. Even the boxes (for all shoes) are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (a third party group that verifies that resources are sustainable).
