Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2021

Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2021

Of the moms I know, there’s one thing we’ve all had in common recently: we’ve had to multi-task even more than usual over the past year! Some of us became tutors for our kids, while we worked from home. Some of us doubled as chefs and bakers, while restaurants were closed. Most of us took on the role of event planners so that our families wouldn’t miss out on special holidays. So my Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2021 is for you multi-tasking moms out there. Here’s my list of versatile, adjustable, and multi-tasking gifts for the mom that does it all!

Gifts For the Work-From-Home Mom

Home Office Gifts

Devices have been in high demand over the past year, so it may be time for an upgrade. I just received a new iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard, which I’m using daily (who am I kidding, hourly). My office moves from the laundry room to the kitchen multiple times a day, so I appreciate that it’s so compact and SO fast. I use mine for work, entertainment, workouts, recipes, socializing and so much more!

The other device that I use every single day is our Echo (this new Echo has a fun, almost-sphere shape)! Alexa reads me the news, functions as an encyclopedia, and reminds me not to burn dinner when I get lost in blog writing! So if Mom needs a personal assistant, consider an Echo.

Home Office Comforts

If Mom is going to continue to work from home for the rest of the year, consider a moveable standing desk that she can take wherever she needs to set up. If she has an office, make sure she has an adjustable ergonomic chair to make her more comfortable.

A Coffee (Or Tea) Break

An Ember mug will allow her to keep her beverages at just the right temperature without constant trips to the microwave. If you haven’t heard of Ember, it’s a smart mug that you can control with your iPhone!

Gifts For Chef Mom

Did Mom join in the sourdough, foldover quesadilla, and banana bread obsessions of the past year? Then, she might need to replace some of her equipment. I spend about five hours a day, prepping meals, cooking, or cleaning for our family of five, so my kitchen tools get quite the workout. Here are some of my latest purchases:

The Always Pan

The Always Pan is described as the pan that replaces 8 of your cookware items; your steamer, sautee pan, saucepan, saucier, skillet, fry pan, non-stick pan, and spoon rest. It has an aluminum core and a ceramic non-stick surface and comes with a lid, a steamer basket, and a wooden spoon that fits onto the handle of the pan.

I use mine mainly for steaming vegetables, sauteeing side dishes, or making eggs. If you have a small kitchen, are single, or are cooking for two, the Always pans may be the only pan you’ll need. It comes in an assortment of colors, is non-stick, and is lightweight.

Oven To Table Cookware

Last year, I bought my first Le Creuset Stoneware pan. I love that it’s sturdy enough for the oven and beautiful on the table. Fewer dishes to wash = happy multi-tasking mom. I’m looking at their loaf pan and square dish to replace some of my old worn-out baking pans.

If you prefer cast iron, Le Creuset also makes beautiful enameled cast iron pieces that come in the most gorgeous, rich colors.

I also love the blue and white, hand-painted Blue Rose Pottery Flowering Peacock Extra Large Baker at Target. It’s safe to use in the microwave, dishwasher, and oven.

Gifts For The Interior Design Mom

Has Mom been redecorating over the past year? With all of us spending more time at home, she has probably found ways to make home more functional, cozy, and aesthetically pleasing. Here are some finishing touches to freshen up her home for spring.

Low-Maintenance Plants

Plants are always a popular Mother’s Day Gift and perhaps even more important in 2021 when we could use their health benefits! Houseplants can improve air quality, increase humidity in the air (as moisture is released from their leaves), and have a calming effect.

Pothos, Jade, Snake, Spider, Peace Lily, and cacti are easy to care for. Find them at a garden store near you, or if you need to have them shipped, Pottery Barn ships live plants.

The Teak Basin Fresh Garden would liven up a coffee table, small shelf or home office.

A Pothos Hanging Plant can hang down from a ceiling or sit on a shelf.

And if your multitasking mom forgets (ahem) to water plants she may like some faux plants. They won’t offer the same health benefits but they’ll be aesthetically pleasing.

The Faux Potted Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree would look lovely in the corner of a room.

If she has wall space, the Faux Succulent Wall Art makes a nice change from framed artwork.

For a desktop plant, Faux Aloe Vera Plant is small and compact.

Global Decor

The trends for interior design this past year have revolved around old comforts. Rustic style, cottagecore, vintage vogue, and eco-chic have all been popular recently. The emerging trend for 2021 and a fun idea for a Mother’s Day gift is global decor. If she can’t take that trip around the world just yet, bring a little of the world to her!

Give her a little taste of her favorite destination, perhaps a Marimekko (Finnish) floral print pillow, A Diptyke (French) candle, or a Moroccan footstool so that she can put her feet up and relax! Brighten up her home and give her some inspiration to start planning a post-pandemic trip.

Clever Tools

Upgrade her plain old rolling pin with the clever Joseph Joseph Adjustable Rolling Pin so that her scones, pizza dough, and cookies are exactly how she wants them!

This silicone pot insert functions as a colander, steamer, splatter guard, and trivet, and folds for compact storage!

Fashion And Beauty Gifts For Mom

If you read my Spring Trends post you know that fashion is all about multi-tasking (luxe lounge) and blending styles (the shacket) styles. These are some of the versatile spring and summer pieces that I have on my wish list!

Jewelry

Jewelry is a classic Mother’s Day Gift and is still on my list for 2021! For some easy-to-wear and care-for options, that I already own, take a look at my post: 7 Fashion Jewelry Trends For The Minimalist. I’ve featured some options that can be worn alone for a simple, clean look or layered and stacked for a bolder look!

I also love my Mejuri Mini Lotus Studs (pictured above) which are bright enough to wear alone, but small enough that I can wear other earrings in my second piercing.

Handbags And Accessories

If Mom needs a fun handbag update, take a look at the Staud Bean Clutch which has a removable strap so she can turn it into a clutch. You can buy this cute little handbag at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Amazon or on the Staud website. The hardest decision? Which color to choose?

Madewell’s Transport handbags come with a leather strap and a woven strap, but if you want even more choices, you can buy additional straps in solids or patterns. The Transport series includes a camera bag, a zip-top tote, and a saddle bag.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive accessory, how about this card wallet/stand/phone holder for her phone?

Spring Jackets

If she doesn’t already have a shacket, consider buying one for her to wear at home or when running errands. For spring try a corduroy shirt jacket or a relaxed canvas chore jacket. If you’re wondering what a shacket is, take a look at my How To Wear A Shacket post.

Another “blended” versatile, somewhere-between-casual-and-polished piece is the coatigan. The J.Crew’s Sophie Open Front Sweater Blazer is an influencer favorite and can be dressed up or down.

I also love Banana Republic’s 2-In-1 Rain Coat with a removable hood and liner (for those of us who live in the Northeast where it has been known to snow on Mother’s Day!)

Sandals And Pedicures

An informal survey of the moms I know told me that the luxuries we miss most during lockdowns were 1) our hair appointments, and 2) pedicures. If spa treatments are still off the table for Mom, consider a gift basket of pedicure items with some slippers or sandals. If she was pacing through the house as much as I was over the past year, she’ll need some new footwear!

I just bought Vionic’s Cassie Rock Sandals to wear around the house (though they can be worn anywhere). I love the shaped footbed and the fun spring print. (Look out for more flip-flops with extra cushioned footbeds and they are trending this summer).

Tory Burch’s Miller Thong Sandal still continues to be a fashion favorite.

As for the pedicure kit, I add a foot file, a foot mask, pedicure tools, and a fun nail polish set!

There you have it, my Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2021 for multi-tasking moms. What’s on your gift list?
